Reformers target those in Family Court system

Emily Gallup isn’t giving up. And she isn’t going away.

The former Family Court mediator has been engaged in a protracted battle with Nevada County Superior Court’s Family Court Services after she was fired in December. She filed a grievance and won an arbitration award that had ordered an audit of Family Court, but that was overturned at the end of April.

Gallup, who is alleging the court violated state statutes and its own rules, still has a wrongful termination suit in federal court against the Nevada County Superior Court, which will likely not be heard until next April.

Over the last two weeks, Gallup has been a very visible presence on the courthouse steps, as she — and members of the advocacy group she helped found, Nevada County Family Court Reformers — has been handing out bright-orange flyers to folks heading to Family Court orientation on Tuesday mornings and to Family Court hearings on Wednesday mornings.

“I haven’t given up on my larger goal of getting this court audited,” Gallup said Tuesday. “But I think it’s going to take a lot of time, and I don’t want people to suffer needlessly in the meantime.” . . . More

I would like to get in touch with systematicallybeaten@hushmail.com as I also have problems with El Dorado County but my email came back as undeliverable. IT’s NOT ONLY THE MEDIATORS BUT THE COLLECTIONS DEPT.THAT NEED TO BE DEALT WITH ESPECIALLY FOR UNWED FATHERS WHO CAN’T AFFORD AN
ATTORNEY BECAUSE OF CHILD SUPPORT AND THE MOTHER WHO IS EXEMPT FROM PAYING ANY SUPPORT EVEN THOUGH SHE DOESN’T HAVE THE CHILDREN BUT THE FATHER CAN’T GET THE CHILDREN TO SUPPORT THEM!!!!!!!!

I Love You Ellen. Thanks to all of you who stood by her. We extend our thanks to all of you who visited us last week. We look foward to the specialized planning groups. THEY SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO EMILY. There is something in Ellen’s win over the system on the 3rd that I want to share. It has to do with with ending the feeding trough for attorneys for minors. Per the M8 “At the respondent’s request for review of minors counsel’s billing, pursant to the policy of the Presiding Judge, all requests for review will automatically be referred to the Presiding Judge for an in camera review.” She had attached the Sacramento and Marin Audits results. If you have logs of contacts with the one in question you should file them with the court as an attachment to make record. This will create a special file that the State and Federal Auditors can grab quick. It also makes it more uncomfortable to cover when you are certian that it will be subject to audit. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
